72 Mbit DDR II+ SRAM for high-bandwidth data paths
This is a volatile memory part from the CY7C1568 family, designed for applications that need sustained read/write throughput with no refresh cycles—think network packet buffers, test equipment capture memory, or DSP scratch pads.
At 500 MHz the DDR II+ interface transfers data on both clock edges, so the effective data rate is 1 Gbps per pin. For a 18-bit-wide bus that works out to 18 Gbps aggregate bandwidth. That kind of throughput matters when you are feeding a high-speed ADC capture array or a switch fabric that cannot tolerate a wait state. The parallel interface means the bus is wide and fast, not serial—your FPGA or ASIC needs enough I/O banks to match the 18 data lines plus address and control.
For a design already in production, the only channel is the surplus and broker market. Any new design should look at current-generation synchronous SRAMs from Cypress (now Infineon) or other vendors—same package footprint and interface voltage, but verify pin compatibility from the respective datasheets.
