250 MHz clock and 4M x 18 organization — bus timing and memory depth
At 250 MHz the DDR II interface delivers back-to-back read/write transactions with no dead cycles between bursts, critical for pipelined data paths in FPGA-attached or ASIC-attached memory controllers. The 4M x 18 organization gives 4 million addressable locations, each 18 bits wide — a natural fit for 16-bit data words plus two parity or tag bits.
