NoBL architecture — why the dead cycle matters
Its defining feature is the elimination of the dead cycle between read and write operations that conventional pipelined SRAMs require. At a 167 MHz clock, that saved cycle translates to sustained back-to-back throughput without bus-turnaround stalls — a direct benefit for high-bandwidth packet buffers in networking switches, base station line cards, and telecom line cards where every clock edge carries data.
The 3.4 ns access time at 167 MHz gives the controller a comfortable setup-and-hold window. If the design already has a tight timing budget at 133 MHz, stepping to this part at 167 MHz with the same access time buys headroom without re-spinning the memory controller.
