250 MHz synchronous SRAM — NoBL bus eliminates the dead cycle
The CY7C1356C-250AXCT is a 9Mbit synchronous SRAM from Infineon's NoBL (No Bus Latency) series, organized as 512K x 18. The 250 MHz clock rate and 2.8 ns access time mean the part can deliver a pipelined read or write on every clock edge without inserting a dead cycle between back-to-back operations — the NoBL architecture lets the next access start immediately after the previous one's address is registered, which matters for high-throughput buffer applications like network packet processing or DSP data caches. The commercial temperature range (0°C to 70°C) limits this part to indoor, controlled-environment equipment — not suitable for extended outdoor or under-hood deployment without active cooling.
Board integration — 100-TQFP footprint and supply routing
The 100-TQFP (14x20 mm) package with 0.5 mm pitch requires a 4-layer PCB minimum for fan-out — the inner signal rows need via transitions to inner layers. Place a 0.1 µF ceramic cap within 2 mm of each VDD/VDDQ pair, and a 10 µF bulk cap per quadrant of the package.
