What this NoBL SRAM brings to a 133 MHz bus
The Cypress CY7C1350G-133AXC is a 4.5Mbit synchronous SRAM from the NoBL (No Bus Latency) family, organized as 128K x 36 and clocked at 133 MHz with a 4 ns access time. It is designed for high-throughput applications such as network packet buffers, cache memory, and DSP data storage where the processor bus cannot tolerate dead cycles between read and write operations. The NoBL architecture eliminates the turnaround cycle required by conventional synchronous SRAMs, allowing back-to-back reads and writes on every clock edge.
133 MHz clock and 4 ns access — what they mean for timing closure
At 133 MHz the clock period is roughly 7.5 ns, and the 4 ns access time leaves about 3.5 ns of setup margin for the receiving logic — enough for most FPGA and ASIC interfaces without needing a separate PLL phase shift.
