Clock rate and bus margin — the 450 MHz decision
At 450 MHz the clock period is roughly 2.2 ns. With a QDR II+ interface that launches data on both edges, the effective data rate per pin is 900 Mbps. The timing closure margin on a board trace of any real length gets tight — the layout engineer will need controlled-impedance routing, matched-length traces, and a solid reference plane under the FBGA.
Package reality — 165-ball FBGA rework
The part comes in a 165-ball FBGA (13x15 mm body). That is a fine-pitch BGA — not something you hand-solder with an iron. If you are planning a rework cycle, expect to use a hot-air station with a preheat plate and a stencil for fresh balls.
That means no last-time-buy clock is ticking, and the part remains factory-supported for new designs. There is no forced migration to a successor; the part is in its production prime.
