Product details

Two 5.5A high-side channels with 21 mOhm Rds(on)

The Infineon BTS5240LNT is a dual-channel high-side power switch in a PG-DSO-12-2 package, each channel rated for a continuous 5.5A maximum output. The typical on-resistance of 21 mOhm keeps conduction losses low enough that at 5A per channel the dissipation stays under 0.5W — manageable on the exposed pad with reasonable copper area.

4.5V to 28V load voltage — 12V and 24V systems covered

The load voltage range spans 4.5V to 28V, which covers both 12V automotive and 24V industrial truck/bus rails without a separate regulator. No Vcc supply is required — the switch is self-powered from the load pin, simplifying the BOM by one rail.

Fault protection set reduces external circuitry

Built-in fixed current limiting, open-load detection, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping cover the common failure modes for a resistive or inductive load. The open-load detect is useful for lamp or solenoid diagnostics — it flags a broken wire without a separate sense resistor.

Junction temperature rated to 150°C

The 150°C TJ max means the thermal shutdown threshold sits above the normal operating ceiling, giving margin for transient overloads.

Obsolete — sourced through independent distribution

The BTS5240LNT carries an Obsolete lifecycle status from Infineon.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rds(on) of the BTS5240LNT?

The typical Rds(on) is 21 mOhm per channel. This is the conduction loss floor at 25°C junction temperature; actual on-resistance increases with temperature per the normalised curve in the datasheet, so budget for higher dissipation at elevated ambient.
