Automotive high-side switch with PROFET protection suite
The switch is self-protected with current limiting (fixed), open-load detection, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping — covering the fault conditions expected in automotive power distribution and lighting systems.
15 mOhm Rds(on) and 21 A current ceiling
At 15 mOhm typical, conduction loss at 10 A is only 1.5 W — the TO-220-5 package with its exposed metal tab can sink that into a heatsink or chassis ground plane. The 21 A maximum output rating gives headroom for motor inrush or lamp cold-start surges. The load supply range from 4.5 V to 42 V covers nominal 12 V and 24 V automotive systems, with margin for load-dump transients up to the over-voltage clamp threshold.
Through-hole TO-220-5 for high-current routing
The PG-TO220-5-11 package has five formed leads — the large tab is the drain connection and the primary thermal path. Through-hole mounting lets the PCB designer run wide copper traces directly to the load and ground terminals without the current-density limits of a surface-mount footprint.
