The BTS426L1 E3043 is a single-channel PROFET high-side switch from Infineon, designed for general-purpose switched loads in automotive and industrial environments. Its 50 mOhm typical on-resistance at 25°C sets the conduction loss floor — at 5.8 A the I²R dissipation is about 1.7 W, which the TO-220-5 package can sink with a reasonable copper area on the tab.
Rated for a 5V to 34V load supply, the part handles continuous currents up to 5.8 A. The integrated protection suite — current limiting (fixed), open-load detect, over-temperature, and over-voltage — means the switch can survive a shorted load or a stalled motor without external clamp diodes, as long as the thermal shutdown cycle is accounted for in the system duty cycle.
