Automotive-grade transient protection for 12V rail clamping
The SMCJ10AQ-13-F is a 1500W peak pulse power Zener TVS diode from Diodes Incorporated, designed to clamp transients on 12V nominal automotive power rails.
The 10V reverse standoff (working voltage) means the diode does not conduct at normal 12V battery levels — it only activates when the rail rises above 11.1V breakdown minimum. The 17V clamping ceiling ensures that even a 88.2A surge (10/1000µs) is held below the abs-max rating of most 12V-rated ICs. Single unidirectional channel — the cathode is tied to the protected rail, anode to ground. Power line protection is not supported; this is a signal or low-power rail clamp, not a mains-side suppressor.
Package and board-fit: DO-214AB SMC
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ10AQ-13-F provides a low-inductance path for fast transients.
