The AP2152AMPG-13 is a dual-channel high-side power switch from Diodes Incorporated, designed for USB bus-powered applications. It integrates two P-channel MOSFET switches in a 1:2 input-to-output ratio, each capable of delivering up to 500 mA continuous current. The 85 mOhm typical on-resistance keeps conduction losses low — at 500 mA per channel, the I²R drop is about 21 mW, which is negligible for most USB port designs and avoids thermal buildup in the 8-MSOP-EP package.
Fault protection and feature set for downstream safety
Fault protection includes fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, reverse current blocking, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). The current limit is fixed internally — no external resistor sets the threshold — so the 500 mA max rating is the hard ceiling per channel. The load discharge feature pulls the output to ground when the switch is disabled, preventing a floating output that could hold a residual charge on the downstream capacitance. The status flag output signals fault conditions to the host controller. The On/Off interface is non-inverting — a logic high on the enable pin turns the switch on.
Package and thermal management for PCB layout
The 8-MSOP-EP package (3.00 mm width, exposed pad) requires a thermal land on the PCB for effective heat sinking. The package is surface-mount, supplied in Tape & Reel (2500/reel) or Cut Tape options for prototyping.
