Buck regulator for low-power rails
The MAX653CSA+ is a step-down (buck) switching regulator from Maxim Integrated, delivering up to 225 mA from an input rail spanning 4 V to 11.5 V.
Input range and output current
Wide 4 V to 11.5 V input range covers common supply rails — 5 V, 9 V, 12 V — without requiring a separate pre-regulator. The 225 mA continuous output is suited for powering sensor front-ends, MCU analog supplies, or low-power logic. No synchronous rectifier means the external Schottky diode adds a forward drop but keeps the BOM simple and the switching node clean. Operating temperature is specified from 0°C to 70°C (TA), the commercial-grade band. This limits deployment to indoor, temperature-controlled environments — not suitable for extended industrial or automotive ambient without thermal management.
Package and board-fit
The tube packaging suits low-volume prototyping and small-batch production. Mounting is surface-mount only — no through-hole variant.
