Data rate is rated at 460 kbps, which covers common UART speeds up to 460.8 kbaud — enough for industrial terminals, PLC programming ports, and embedded debug consoles. The 500 mV receiver hysteresis provides noise margin on the receive line, useful in electrically noisy factory-floor environments. Supply voltage range is ±4.75 V to 5.25 V, so it runs from a single 5 V rail with an internal charge-pump generating the RS-232 bipolar levels. No external ±12 V supply needed.

Housed in an 8-lead uMAX/uSOP package, which is the same footprint as a standard 8-MSOP or 8-TSSOP — 3.00 mm body width, 0.65 mm pin pitch. The small outline saves board space but demands careful soldering: the 0.65 mm pitch is fine enough that a stencil aperture reduction is recommended for consistent paste volume. Not automotive-qualified, but fine for outdoor telecom cabinets, HVAC controllers, and test equipment that stays above the freezing point.
