The MAX211EEAI+ is a full-duplex RS-232 transceiver from Analog Devices, delivering a data rate of 120 kbps across four drivers and five receivers. This driver-to-receiver ratio means one extra receive channel is available for monitoring or handshaking on a standard four-wire serial port, without requiring a separate UART. The receiver hysteresis of 500 mV provides noise immunity on the incoming RS-232 lines, reducing the chance of false triggering on a long cable run in an electrically noisy environment like a factory floor or a telecom rack.
