The 2500Vrms isolation rating provides basic functional isolation for industrial bus interfaces; it is not rated for reinforced medical isolation but is sufficient for separating RS485 networks in factory-floor equipment. The 20Mbps data rate supports Profibus and similar high-speed RS485 protocols without bit-rate limiting. Common-mode transient immunity of 30kV/µs means the receiver stays locked to the bus during motor drive switching events or relay contact bounce — a real concern in noisy panels. The integrated isolated power (3V to 3.6V input) powers both sides of the barrier, so you only need one clean 3.3V rail on the logic side; the isolated side output is available for the transceiver and any external bus biasing resistors.
For dual-sourcing, the closest functional equivalent is the ADM2582EBRWZ-REEL7 from Analog Devices (IsoPower®, iCoupler®), which also integrates isolated power and RS422/RS485 but runs at 16Mbps and offers a wider -40°C to 85°C temperature range. The ADM2582 is a pin-compatible alternative for designs that need the wider temperature grade, though the package is a different form factor (SOIC-WB vs BGA).
