What it does in the signal chain
The ADV7401BSTZ-110 is a video decoder and digitizer that converts analog composite video (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) into digital component video data streams compliant with ITU-R BT.656. Control is over a serial interface (I²C-compatible), so configuration registers are set through the same two-wire bus that programs the rest of the video pipeline.
Package and field-swap reality
Housed in a 100-lead LQFP (14x14mm body), this is a standard fine-pitch surface-mount package that a rework station with hot air can handle — no BGA underfill, no X-ray inspection needed after a swap. The part ships in a tray, so it arrives with the leads protected; no tape-and-reel handling concerns for small-batch or prototype work. RoHS3 compliant — no lead, no cadmium, no conflict-minerals paperwork to chase for EU shipments.
Where it fits and where it does not
Targeted at Consumer Video applications — think set-top boxes, DVD recorders, video capture cards, and surveillance DVRs that ingest analog camera feeds.
