Two-channel isolation at 150 Mbps — what that buys you
The ADUM121N1BRZ-RL7 is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler series, built with magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 3000Vrms isolation in a compact 8-SOIC package, with a data rate of 150Mbps that comfortably handles SPI, UART, and CAN FD isolation without adding bus latency. The 1.7V to 5.5V supply range on each side means it can bridge a 1.8V MCU domain to a 5V peripheral rail without a level shifter — one less component on the BOM.
75 kV/µs CMTI — why it matters for motor drives and inverters
Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 75kV/µs minimum. In a motor-drive or inverter application where fast-switching IGBTs or SiC FETs slam the ground reference, that CMTI margin keeps the output from glitching. The 13ns propagation delay (max) and 3ns pulse-width distortion mean the isolated signal stays clean enough for timing-critical loops like PWM gating or encoder feedback.
Temperature grade and storage reality
The 8-SOIC package is MSL 3 — store the reels dry; if the moisture-barrier bag has been open past the floor-life window, bake before reflow.
