150 Mbps in an 8-SOIC — what that buys the design
The ADUM120N1BRZ is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to pass signals across a 3000 Vrms isolation barrier. It handles 150 Mbps per channel with 13 ns propagation delay and 3 ns pulse-width distortion, which is fast enough for most SPI, UART, and general-purpose logic isolation without adding timing headaches.
75 kV/µs CMTI — why it matters for motor drives and inverters
Common-mode transient immunity is 75 kV/µs minimum. In a motor-drive or inverter design, the switching edges on the high-voltage side can couple large dV/dt spikes across the isolation barrier. If the isolator's CMTI is too low, those spikes get misinterpreted as data pulses, corrupting the signal. This part's rating handles the fast edges from modern SiC and GaN switches without glitching.
Temperature range and package — field-replaceable?
No isolated power on-chip, so you still need separate supply rails on each side.
ADI lists the ADUM120N1BRZ as Active. No last-time-buy notice, no end-of-life announcement. ROHS3 compliant. For a production BOM that needs a stable isolation part, this one is not going away soon.
