Automotive-grade isolation with 125°C ceiling
The ADUM1200WSRZ-RL7 is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler® family, using magnetic coupling to pass signals across a 2500 Vrms isolation barrier. The 1 Mbps data rate suits sensor readback, SPI isolation, and low-speed control links.
Isolation and transient immunity for motor-drive environments
The 2500 Vrms isolation rating provides reinforced protection for galvanically isolated interfaces in traction inverters, DC-DC converters, and on-board chargers. The part specifies a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 25 kV/µs — this is the spec that matters when a fast-switching SiC or IGBT stage slams the ground reference. If the CMTI number is too low, the output glitches and the controller sees a false edge. At 25 kV/µs, this part handles the switching edges of most automotive and industrial drives without bit errors.
Timing margins: propagation delay and pulse-width distortion
Propagation delay is 150 ns max in either direction, and pulse-width distortion is held to 40 ns max. For a 1 Mbps link with a 1 µs bit period, 150 ns of delay is about 15% of the bit time — workable for most UART and SPI frames, but a timing budget check is needed if daisy-chaining multiple isolators on one signal path. The 10 ns typical rise/fall time keeps edge rates clean enough to avoid ringing on short PCB traces.
Production status and compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant. For automotive PPAP submissions, the part is AEC-qualified (the 'W' in the order code designates the automotive-grade wafer fab and assembly flow). The buyer should confirm that the supplier can provide the AEC-Q100 test report and PPAP documentation level required by the OEM.
