The ADM2487EBRWZ-REEL7 is an iCoupler® magnetic-coupled, isolated RS-422/RS-485 transceiver from Analog Devices. It handles 500 kbps data rate with 2500 Vrms galvanic isolation and 25 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity. The three unidirectional channels — two on the logic side, one on the bus side — keep the bus driver and receiver separate, which simplifies half-duplex RS-485 node design.
500 kbps is the practical ceiling for this transceiver. The 1.1 µs rise/fall time keeps EMI low and avoids reflections on unterminated stubs.
Isolation and noise rejection
The 2500 Vrms isolation rating covers basic functional isolation for industrial equipment. The 25 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the part holds the bus data intact during motor-drive PWM switching or relay contact bounce — the kind of fast voltage spikes that couple through parasitic capacitance in non-isolated transceivers.
