What this isolated RS485 transceiver does on the bus
The Analog Devices ADM2483BRWZ-REEL is a magnetic-coupled isolated RS422/RS485 transceiver from the iCoupler® series. It handles bidirectional data at 500kbps across a 2500Vrms isolation barrier, with 25kV/µs common-mode transient immunity — enough to keep the bus alive through motor-drive switching noise or inverter hash. Three channels (two on the logic side, one on the bus side) handle the driver, receiver, and enable signals. Supply can be 3V or 5V on either side, which simplifies interfacing a 3.3V controller to a 5V RS485 bus.
Industrial temperature range and deployment
The 2500Vrms isolation covers basic equipment isolation for industrial zones, though it does not include an integrated isolated DC-DC — you supply the isolated rail externally (e.g., a separate isolated converter or a bus-powered scheme).
Package and footprint reality
Housed in a 16-SOIC wide-body (7.50mm width), the footprint matches the standard isolated RS485 transceiver layout. No pinout detail is reproduced here — verify against the datasheet for your layout.
Lifecycle and compliance
For a production BOM, this means no immediate last-time-buy pressure.
