3 GHz PLL in a 20-TSSOP — RF local-oscillator workhorse
The ADF4218BRU-REEL is a PLL frequency synthesizer from Analog Devices that generates clock outputs up to 3 GHz from CMOS or TTL reference inputs. It integrates a phase detector, charge pump, and programmable dividers in a 20-pin TSSOP package, making it a compact choice for RF local-oscillator generation in wireless infrastructure, test equipment, and satellite downconverters. The 3:1 input-to-output ratio and differential output option give flexibility in single-ended or balanced LO distribution.
Operating from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, this PLL can run directly from a 3.3 V or 5 V rail without an extra regulator. If your design lives in a controlled indoor environment, the industrial rating still gives margin on phase-noise drift over temperature.
RoHS non-compliant — leaded finish, legacy process
Any production line that must meet RoHS directives — or any EU-market product without an explicit exemption — cannot use this part. For legacy builds or repair depots that still run tin-lead reflow, the leaded finish is actually preferred for reliability on older board finishes.
