DDS core for programmable waveform generation
The AD9833BRMZ-REEL is a 25 MHz direct digital synthesis (DDS) IC from Analog Devices that generates sine, triangle, and square wave outputs with 10-bit resolution and a 28-bit tuning word for fine frequency control.
Clock ceiling and frequency resolution
With a 25 MHz master clock, the 28-bit tuning word yields a frequency resolution of about 0.1 Hz — fine enough for swept-sine impedance measurements or precision audio tone generation without an external PLL. The 10-bit DAC output sets the amplitude resolution; for applications needing lower noise or higher SFDR, the AD9834 (12-bit DAC, same pinout) is a drop-in alternative worth evaluating.
Package and supply integration
The 10-MSOP (3.00 mm width) surface-mount package requires a standard MSOP-10 land pattern. Supply decoupling should follow the datasheet recommendation: a 0.1 µF ceramic close to each supply pin and a 10 µF bulk capacitor on the main rail. The wide supply tolerance (2.3 V to 5.5 V) gives margin when the rail droops under load.
