The AD8330ACPZ-R2 is a single-channel variable gain amplifier (VGA) from Analog Devices. Its 150 MHz -3 dB bandwidth defines the useful frequency range before gain rolls off by 3 dB — for a 10 MHz carrier, the amplifier has headroom; for a 100 MHz signal, the gain flatness across the passband depends on the external gain-setting network. In a pulse application with a 5 V step, the output rises in about 3.3 ns — fast enough for most IF and baseband paths up to the bandwidth limit.

Output is differential and rail-to-rail — it swings to within a few mV of each supply rail. This drives the inputs of differential ADCs directly or feeds a balun for single-ended conversion. The 100 nA input bias current is bipolar-stage typical; with a 10 kΩ source impedance the offset error is 1 mV, negligible for most gain-controlled paths, but at 100 kΩ it becomes 10 mV and may need a DC servo.
