Package and mounting
This part ships in an 8-MSOP package (also listed as 8-TSSOP, 0.118" body width, 3.00 mm). That is a fine-pitch, low-profile surface-mount package — the 0.65 mm lead pitch is manageable with a good hot-air station, but the 3.00 mm body width means the thermal pad is small. If you are reworking a board where the original AD8310ARMZ-REEL7 failed, preheat the board to 150 °C before hitting it with hot air; the small plastic body can blister if you go straight to reflow temperature.
The Analog Devices AD8310ARMZ-REEL7 is a Logarithmic Amplifier — a DC-coupled, wide-dynamic-range detector that converts an RF or IF signal amplitude into a DC voltage proportional to the log of the input. Its primary application is Receiver Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), so you will find it in radio receivers, spectrum analyzers, base station power monitoring, and any signal chain that needs to measure signal level over a 90 dB-plus range. The part is ROHS3 compliant and comes in a Tape & Reel package, which is the standard for automated pick-and-place assembly.
