12-bit SAR ADC with true bipolar inputs and simultaneous sampling
The AD7366BRUZ-RL7 is a 12-bit successive-approximation (SAR) ADC from Analog Devices' iCMOS® series. It integrates two ADCs, each sampling at 1 MSps, with a 4-channel input multiplexer feeding a sample-and-hold per converter — so you can capture two signals at the exact same instant without skew. The true bipolar input range means the ADC can digitize signals that swing below ground, like ±10V industrial sensor outputs, without external level-shifting op-amps.
Supply rails and interface — what the voltages mean for your design
The analog supply needs a bipolar rail: ±11.5V to 16.5V. That is not a typo — the part requires both a positive and a negative supply to handle the true bipolar input range. The digital supply is separate: 2.7V to 5.25V, which lets the SPI/DSP interface run at 3.3V or 5V logic levels without a translator. The reference can be either external or internal. If you use the internal reference, you save one external component, but the drift and accuracy are fixed. An external reference lets you set the full-scale range and improve temperature stability — a trade-off worth making if the system spans -40°C to 85°C.
Analog Devices lists the AD7366BRUZ-RL7 as Active. The part is ROHS3 compliant. The 24-TSSOP package is a common footprint — 4.4 mm body width, 0.65 mm pitch — which means it fits standard PCB layouts and is straightforward to hand-assemble or reflow.
