Active DDS for impedance and frequency synthesis
The AD5933YRSZ-REEL7 is an Analog Devices direct digital synthesis (DDS) IC with a 16.776 MHz master clock and 12-bit resolution, packaged in a 16-SSOP (0.209", 5.30mm width) for surface-mount assembly. The supply range of 2.7V to 5.5V allows direct connection to 3.3V or 5V logic rails without an external regulator.
The 16.776 MHz master clock sets the maximum output frequency at roughly half that — about 8.38 MHz — and determines the frequency tuning resolution (Δf = fMCLK / 2^24). For a buyer replacing a network analyzer front-end, this clock must match the existing sweep range; a higher clock would require re-tuning the anti-aliasing filter. The 12-bit resolution defines the amplitude granularity of the output sine wave. In impedance measurement mode, the on-chip ADC digitizes the received signal at 12 bits — enough for 0.1% impedance accuracy in most bio-impedance and corrosion monitoring applications, but insufficient for high-precision LCR metrology where 16 bits would be needed.
Lifecycle and order posture
ROHS3 compliant. The 16-SSOP package uses a standard 0.209" body width with 0.0256" lead pitch — no exotic footprint, no special reflow profile.
