What the 1500W rating means in a real surge
The 1.5KE8.2CA/B: At that pulse condition it clamps a 125.6 A surge to 12.1 V maximum, so a transient that would punch through a 7.02 V rail gets shunted before the downstream IC sees overvoltage. The 7.79 V minimum breakdown voltage means the device starts conducting just above the 7.02 V reverse standoff — normal rail voltage sits below the knee, so the TVS draws negligible leakage in standby. The 1500 W rating is the peak pulse power at 25 °C; derate linearly above that per the datasheet curve.
