TVS selection for 30.8 V rails
The 1.5KE36CA/B is a 1500 W peak-pulse Zener TVS diode from YAGEO's 1.5KE series, configured as a single bidirectional channel. Its 30.8 V reverse standoff voltage and 49.9 V clamping point at 30.5 A (10/1000 µs pulse) make it a fit for protecting 28 V to 36 V DC buses — common in industrial power supplies, telecom rectifiers, and battery-backed systems where a single device clamps both polarities without needing a series pair.
Clamping and breakdown margins
Breakdown is specified at 34.2 V minimum — the device starts conducting above that threshold, and the clamping voltage of 49.9 V (max at Ipp) defines the worst-case voltage the protected circuit sees. The 30.5 A peak current rating at the standard 10/1000 µs waveform gives a direct derating anchor: for shorter pulses (8/20 µs, common in IEC 61000-4-5), the peak current capability rises significantly, but the 1500 W energy envelope stays the same.
DO-201 axial mounting and marking
The DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package is a through-hole form factor with a 0.052-inch lead diameter — it fits standard 1.0 mm PCB holes and can be hand-soldered or wave-soldered. The body is marked with the full part code and cathode band (for unidirectional variants; the bidirectional version omits the band). No power-line protection feature (internal foldback) — this is a straight clamping device.
