TVS diode for DC-rail surge clamping
The 1.5KE18A/B: The 1500 W rating means the diode can absorb a single 10/1000 µs surge up to 60.3 A without failing. For repetitive events, derate the peak power based on the pulse repetition rate and ambient temperature — the -55°C to 150°C junction range gives headroom for hot environments, but the actual derating curve from the datasheet governs the safe operating area.
Through-hole axial package and board integration
Housed in a DO-201AA / DO-27 axial-lead package, the 1.5KE18A/B mounts through-hole on a PCB. The axial leads are rated for the full 60.3 A surge current without fusing — the lead cross-section and the internal bond wires handle the peak current. The DO-201 body is the standard footprint for 1.5 kW TVS diodes; it mates with 0.036-inch diameter holes on a 0.4-inch lead spacing. It is intended for secondary-side protection on DC buses, signal lines, or low-voltage power inputs where the reverse standoff voltage of 15.3 V matches the normal operating level.
