Product details

33 ns reverse recovery — the hard-switching limit

The VS-E5TX1506-M3 is a Vishay FRED Pt® standard recovery diode rated 600 V reverse and 15 A average forward current, in a TO-220AC through-hole package. Its 33 ns reverse recovery time (trr) places it in the fast-recovery class.

175 °C junction — thermal budget for confined spaces

With an operating junction temperature range from -55 °C to 175 °C, this diode carries the headroom needed for power supplies and drives that run in sealed enclosures or near hot heatsinks. The 175 °C ceiling means the 15 A forward rating can be sustained at elevated ambient without derating to a lower current tier, as long as the heatsink keeps the case temperature within the datasheet limits.

Leakage at 600 V — the off-state margin

Reverse leakage is specified at 10 µA at the full 600 V blocking voltage. That is a clean off-state for a 15 A device — no excessive standing loss in the PFC or boost diode position, and no risk of thermal runaway from leakage doubling at high junction temperature.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 33 ns trr rating and why does it matter?

The 33 ns reverse recovery time (trr) is the time it takes the diode to turn off after forward conduction. For a 600 V, 15 A diode, a 33 ns trr keeps the turn-off switching loss low enough for hard-switched PFC and flyback converters running at 65–100 kHz. Slower diodes would overheat the junction at those frequencies.
