30 A, 1200 V fast recovery diode in TO-220AB
The VS-C5TH3012-M3 is a Vishay FRED Pt® series fast recovery diode rated 30 A at 1200 V, housed in a TO-220AB through-hole package. The 95 ns reverse recovery time (trr) makes it suited for hard-switching topologies where recovery losses and EMI need to be contained — boost PFC stages, output rectifiers in resonant converters, and snubber clamps in motor drives.
Parametric fit — voltage, forward drop, and recovery speed
Maximum DC reverse voltage (Vr) is 1200 V, providing headroom for 800 VDC bus rails and single-phase PFC outputs where the peak line voltage plus ripple stays under 1000 V. Forward voltage (Vf) is 2.5 V maximum at 15 A — the conduction loss at this current is 37.5 W, which the TO-220AB package dissipates with adequate heatsinking and airflow. Reverse leakage is 50 µA at the full 1200 V rating, doubling roughly every 10 °C junction rise.
