81 ns trr — what it buys in a PFC or inverter stage
The VS-60EPU06L-N3 is a Vishay FRED Pt® ultrafast recovery diode rated 600 V reverse voltage and 60 A average forward current in a through-hole TO-247AD package. The 81 ns reverse recovery time (trr) cuts the switching loss in continuous-conduction-mode PFC stages and hard-switched inverter legs compared to a standard 200 ns recovery diode — the FRED Pt platinum-diffused process controls the softness factor to reduce EMI ringing at turn-off.
AEC-Q101 and 175°C junction — under-hood fit
AEC-Q101 qualification and a -55°C to 175°C junction temperature range put this diode in the tier for automotive on-board charger, DC-DC converter, and high-side reverse-battery protection circuits. The 175°C Tjmax means the 60 A average rating holds without derating in a 105°C ambient engine-bay environment — the thermal budget is set by the heatsink, not the silicon. The TO-247AD package with a 1.68 V forward drop at 60 A produces about 100 W conduction loss at full load — the large tab area and through-hole mount let a forced-air or liquid-cooled heatsink pull that heat away. The 50 µA reverse leakage at 600 V rated blocking confirms the die is clean; leakage doubles roughly every 10°C above 25°C, so at 150°C junction expect about 0.8 mA — still within the SOA for a hard-switched bridge.
Active production — volume sourcing posture
The FRED Pt series is a mature Vishay power-diode platform — the die and package tooling are standard, so lead times track the commodity power-semiconductor cycle.
