3750Vrms isolation in a compact 4-SSOP
The Vishay VOS618A-3X001T is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler in a 4-SSOP package, providing 3750Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a transistor output. It is designed for industrial control, PLC I/O modules, motor drive feedback, and medical equipment where signal integrity across a potential barrier is required.
CTR range and what it drives
The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% minimum and 200% maximum, measured at a forward current of 1 mA. This means the output transistor can sink at least as much collector current as the LED forward current, with headroom up to 2×. For a design driving a 5 mA load, a 1 mA LED current guarantees saturation across temperature and over the life of the part.
Switching speed and output ratings
Typical rise and fall times are 5 µs and 7 µs respectively; turn-on and turn-off times are 5 µs and 8 µs. These figures suit low-to-moderate speed applications such as 10 kHz PWM feedback, relay coil drive, or status LED indication, but not high-speed serial isolation. The output transistor is rated for 80 V maximum collector-emitter voltage and 50 mA continuous output current per channel, covering most 24 V industrial logic and 12 V automotive loads with margin.
