The Vishay VOM618A-4T is a single-channel optoisolator with a DC input and a phototransistor output, rated for 3750Vrms isolation. It comes in a 4-SMD gull-wing package (4-SOP) for surface-mount assembly. With a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 160% to 320% at 1 mA forward current, it gives you predictable gain for driving logic inputs or low-current loads up to 50 mA per channel. The 80 V output ceiling and 400 mV saturation voltage keep it clean for 5 V and 12 V level shifting.
Temperature range and field reliability
Rated from -55°C to 110°C operating, this opto handles outdoor telecom cabinets, motor-drive enclosures, and engine-bay electronics without derating. The wide range also covers cold-start conditions down to -55°C, so it is a solid pick for industrial and transportation gear that sits outside.
Switching speed and timing budget
Typical rise and fall times are 5 µs and 4 µs, with turn-on/turn-off times of 7 µs and 6 µs. That is fast enough for 10 kHz to 20 kHz PWM isolation or status feedback from a relay driver, but not for high-speed serial links. If you need sub-microsecond response, look at a digital isolator or a high-speed optocoupler instead.
