3750Vrms isolation in a 4-SOP gull-wing package
The Vishay VOM617A-9T is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler providing 3750Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a transistor output. Housed in a 4-SOP gull-wing package (4-SMD, Gull Wing), it is designed for surface-mount assembly and remains hand-rework-friendly — the gull-wing leads are easy to inspect and reflow with a hot-air station, and the package outline is compact enough for dense boards. The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified between 200% and 400% at a forward current of 5mA, giving a predictable gain window for the LED drive circuit. With a typical forward voltage of 1.1V and a maximum DC forward current of 60mA, the input side is compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic outputs through a series resistor. On the output side, the transistor can handle up to 80V collector-emitter voltage and 50mA continuous current, with a maximum saturation voltage of 400mV. Switching times are modest — 3µs rise and fall, 6µs turn-on and 4µs turn-off — making this part suitable for low-speed digital isolation, status feedback, and DC signal coupling rather than high-speed data links.
Temperature range and environment
The wide temperature span also simplifies BOM consolidation across multiple temperature zones in a single design.
