The Vishay VOM617A-8T is a single-channel, DC-input, transistor-output optocoupler in a 4-SOP gull-wing package. The 80 V output ceiling on the phototransistor side gives headroom for 24 V industrial bus levels without a secondary buffer transistor.
CTR window: 130 % to 260 % at 5 mA
The current transfer ratio is specified as a min of 130 % and a max of 260 %, both at 5 mA forward current. That is a tighter bin than the broad 50–600 % range some general-purpose optos ship with, which means you can size the LED series resistor and the pull-up on the output side with less worst-case spread. At 5 mA drive the typical Vf is 1.1 V, so the input power budget stays predictable across temperature and unit-to-unit variation.
Package and rework notes
The 4-SOP gull-wing footprint is a surface-mount package that reflows cleanly with standard lead-free profiles. The package is small enough for dense layouts but the leads are long enough that hand rework with hot air is straightforward; just pre-tin the pads and tack the part back without lifting a pad.
Temperature range and deployment
The 110°C upper limit is above the 85°C typical for commercial optos, so it fits designs where the ambient around the optocoupler can spike — near a hot power supply or a motor drive heatsink.
