2.5A peak output drives IGBT and MOSFET gates directly
The VOD3120AB-VT2 delivers 2.5A peak output current — enough to drive medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs without an external buffer stage. That 2.5A rating is both the peak output and the high/low rail current, so the drive strength is symmetric for clean turn-on and turn-off edges. Propagation delay is 500ns max with 70ns pulse-width distortion, keeping the switching window tight for dead-time management in half-bridge topologies. Rise and fall times are 35ns typical, which limits cross-conduction losses when driving a 1nF–10nF gate load.
5300Vrms isolation and 35kV/µs CMTI for motor-drive environments
Reinforced isolation rated at 5300Vrms meets IEC 60747-5-5 for motor-drive and industrial power supplies. The 35kV/µs common-mode transient immunity keeps the output state stable when the floating ground jumps during IGBT switching — a common failure point in VFD and UPS designs. The optical coupling technology inherently provides galvanic isolation between the logic-side input and the high-side gate drive, eliminating ground-loop coupling in multi-phase inverters.
Active production — sourcing through standard distribution
The 8-SMD Gull Wing package is a common footprint shared with other Vishay optoisolators in the VOD series. Tape & Reel and Cut Tape options are available for both production reels and prototype quantities.
Supply voltage and input drive requirements
Output supply range is 15V to 30V, covering standard gate-drive rails for IGBTs (15V) and higher-voltage MOSFETs. The LED forward voltage is 1.37V typical with a maximum forward current of 20mA — a 3.3V or 5V logic output can drive it through a series resistor. Approvals include CQC, cUL, UL, and VDE, which simplifies certification for equipment sold into North American, European, and Chinese markets.
