5300 Vrms isolation for automotive and industrial isolation barriers
The VOA300-F-X017T is a three-channel photovoltaic linearized optoisolator from Vishay's Automotive AEC-Q102 series, rated for 5300 Vrms isolation. That isolation voltage supports reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5, making it suitable for galvanic isolation in traction inverter gate drives, on-board charger feedback, and battery management system voltage sensing where the barrier must survive transient overvoltages without breakdown. Each channel operates from a DC input and delivers a photovoltaic output that is linearized, meaning the output photocurrent tracks the input LED current with low distortion — a key requirement for analog signal isolation in current-sense and voltage-feedback loops where a simple digital optocoupler would introduce nonlinearity.
Three independent channels in a single 8-SMD gull wing package
Three channels in one 8-SMD gull wing package reduce per-channel board area compared to three single-channel isolators, and the 1.4 V typical forward voltage with 60 mA maximum forward current keeps LED drive within standard 3.3 V or 5 V logic rails through a series resistor. Rise and fall times are 800 ns typical, which limits the usable switching frequency to roughly 600 kHz for a 50% duty cycle square wave — adequate for PWM frequencies up to 100 kHz and sensor readout at lower rates, but not for high-speed digital isolation above 1 MHz.
Active production with AEC-Q102 qualification for automotive programs
The 8-SMD gull wing package is a surface-mount footprint compatible with standard reflow soldering profiles; the gull-wing leads provide visual solder-joint inspection access, which is preferred in high-reliability assembly lines.
