The Vishay VO617A-4X017T is a 1-channel DC-input optocoupler with a transistor output, rated for 5300Vrms isolation between primary and secondary sides. It comes in a 4-SMD gull-wing package for surface-mount assembly. The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 160% minimum and 320% maximum when the forward diode is driven at 5 mA — a wide band that accommodates LED aging and temperature drift without requiring a tight drive current. Output transistor can handle up to 80V collector-emitter and 50 mA continuous current, with a typical Vce(sat) of 400 mV at rated conditions. Switching is moderate: 3 µs turn-on, 2.3 µs turn-off typical, with 2 µs rise and fall times.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life pressure on this line
It is ROHS3 compliant.
Package and assembly fit
The 4-SMD gull-wing footprint is a common optocoupler land pattern shared across many Vishay and competitor parts. The surface-mount body suits reflow soldering; the gull-wing leads provide visual inspection access and some stress relief. No exposed thermal pad — the part relies on the lead frame and board copper for heat sinking. The -55°C to 110°C operating range means the epoxy and lead finish are rated for extended temperature cycling, relevant for outdoor telecom cabinets or factory-floor enclosures.
