5000Vrms isolation in a 4-SMD gull-wing package
The Vishay VO615A-3X009T is a single-channel DC-input optocoupler with a phototransistor output, rated for 5000Vrms isolation between input and output sides. Packaged in a 4-SMD gull-wing format, it provides reinforced isolation for industrial and power-conversion applications where safety spacing and transient immunity matter.
The VO615A-3X009T is specified with a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 100% minimum and 200% maximum, both measured at 10 mA forward current. This bin (the '3' in the suffix) gives the designer a predictable gain window: at 10 mA LED drive, the output transistor will sink between 10 mA and 20 mA with the output collector voltage held within the 70V maximum rating. The 300 mV Vce saturation at that current is tight enough to drive logic-level inputs without an extra pull-up resistor.
Switching speed and the 70V output ceiling
Rise and fall times are 3 µs and 4.7 µs typical, with turn-on and turn-off times of 6 µs and 5 µs respectively. This limits the part to DC-level sensing, slow status feedback, or relay-driver applications rather than high-speed data isolation. The 50 mA continuous output per channel and 70V collector-emitter rating cover most 24V and 48V industrial logic rails with margin.
-55°C to 110°C — industrial and harsh-environment fit
The 60 mA absolute-maximum forward current gives headroom for pulse-drive schemes that boost CTR at cold temperatures.
DC input only — not for AC line sensing
The input type is listed as DC, meaning the internal LED is a single die without an anti-parallel pair. For AC mains detection or zero-crossing circuits, you would need a back-to-back LED optocoupler or an external bridge rectifier. The 1.43V typical forward voltage at 10 mA is standard for infrared LEDs in this class.
