Power triac optocoupler with 5300 Vrms isolation
The Vishay VO2223A-X001 is a single-channel power triac optocoupler in an 8-DIP through-hole package, rated for 1 A on-state RMS current and 600 V off-state voltage. The 5300 Vrms isolation barrier suits it for driving AC loads from low-voltage control logic in industrial and appliance applications where galvanic separation is required.
1 A on-state current and 600 V off-state rating
With a 1 A RMS on-state current capability and 600 V off-state blocking voltage, this optocoupler can directly switch resistive or moderately inductive AC loads such as solenoids, valves, and small motors up to 600 V line. The non-zero-crossing output allows phase-angle control for dimming or soft-start applications, unlike zero-crossing types that only switch at voltage zero. The typical static dV/dt of 210 V/µs provides immunity against fast voltage transients that could otherwise trigger the triac falsely. This is relevant in noisy industrial environments where switching transients from adjacent contactors or drives appear across the off-state triac. The LED trigger current (Ift) is 10 mA maximum, and the forward voltage (Vf) is 1.4 V maximum. The 25 mA hold current (Ih) ensures the triac latches once triggered and does not drop out on load current ripple.
