Dual-channel isolated data link at 10MBd
The Vishay VO0630T is a dual-channel optocoupler with open-drain output, rated for 10MBd data rate and 4000Vrms isolation. Typical applications include industrial fieldbus isolation, PLC digital input modules, and isolated serial interfaces where galvanic separation is required between logic domains.
The 4000Vrms isolation rating qualifies this part for reinforced insulation in mains-connected industrial equipment. For a 230VAC motor drive or a medical patient-interface barrier, that rating gives the creepage and clearance margin needed to pass IEC 60950-1 or IEC 60601-1 safety tests. The 1kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) ensures the output stays clean when switching noise couples across the isolation barrier — a common failure point in noisy inverter drives.
Open-drain output — pull-up selection
With open-drain outputs, each channel sinks up to 50 mA and requires an external pull-up resistor to the receiving logic supply. The 100ns max propagation delay (both tpLH and tpHL) sets the timing budget for the data path. At 10MBd, a 1 kΩ pull-up to 5V gives clean edges with the 23ns rise and 7ns fall times. The 1.4V forward voltage and 15mA max forward current per LED are standard for 5V logic drive from a microcontroller GPIO or a 74HC gate.
