3 V shunt reference for automotive and industrial bias rails
The TZX3V0B-TR is a 3 V nominal zener diode rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation in a DO-35 axial-lead package. It is part of the Vishay TZX series qualified to AEC-Q101, which means the device has passed automotive-grade stress tests including high-temperature reverse bias and temperature cycling.
Wide temperature envelope — -65°C to 175°C
The operating junction temperature range spans -65°C to 175°C, making this part suitable for under-hood automotive electronics, engine bay sensors, and industrial control modules that see sustained high ambient heat. The 175°C ceiling exceeds the 150°C typical of commercial zener diodes, so the derating curve starts later and the power handling at 125°C is higher.
It is RoHS3 compliant. Sourced to order against BOM quantities through independent distribution.
The maximum zener impedance (Zzt) is 100 Ohms. This sets the dynamic resistance at the test current; a higher Zzt means the clamp voltage shifts more with load current, so the 3 V nominal rail will droop under pulsed loads. The reverse leakage current is specified at 5 µA maximum at 500 mV reverse voltage — well below the Vz, confirming the junction blocks cleanly before breakdown.
Forward voltage spec for reverse-polarity protection
The forward voltage is 1.5 V maximum at 200 mA forward current. If the diode is used as a reverse-polarity protection element in series with the supply, the 1.5 V drop at 200 mA means the forward power dissipation must be factored into the thermal budget alongside the zener clamping loss.
