5000Vrms isolation in a 6-DIP through-hole package
The TCDT1123G is a single-channel optocoupler from Toshiba with a DC input and a phototransistor output, housed in a 6-DIP through-hole package. It provides 5000Vrms of galvanic isolation between input and output, making it suitable for industrial isolation, motor drive feedback, and power supply feedback loops where safety isolation is required.
CTR range and output drive
The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified between 100% and 200% at a forward current of 10mA, giving the designer a predictable gain window for driving logic inputs or low-power loads. The output transistor can handle up to 70V and 50mA per channel, with a typical Vce saturation of 300mV at that current, so it can directly drive a microcontroller input or a small relay without an external driver.
Speed and switching performance
Typical rise and fall times are 4.2µs and 4.7µs, with turn-on and turn-off times of 7µs and 5µs respectively. This is a general-purpose optocoupler, not a high-speed digital isolator — it handles 10-100 kHz switching cleanly but won't support fast serial buses like SPI or CAN.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for operation from -55°C to 100°C, the TCDT1123G covers industrial and some military-temperature environments. The through-hole 6-DIP package is rework-friendly — easy to hand-solder or replace with a desoldering tool, and the wide pin spacing (0.400 inch) gives good creepage distance for high-voltage isolation.
Lifecycle and compliance
Active lifecycle, ROHS3 compliant.
