Product details

Signal isolation with 5.3 kV withstand

The SFH6186-3X001T is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler from Vishay, housed in a 4-SMD Gull Wing package for surface-mount assembly. Its 5300Vrms isolation voltage suits it for breaking ground loops and protecting low-voltage logic from high-side transients in industrial control and PLC I/O modules.

CTR range sets the LED drive budget

Current transfer ratio spans 100% minimum to 200% maximum at a forward current of 1 mA. This means the output transistor can sink at least as much current as the LED draws, giving the designer a predictable gain for sizing the input series resistor and verifying the output can saturate the downstream logic input. The output side handles up to 55 V collector-emitter and 50 mA continuous per channel, covering 24 V PLC inputs and 5 V logic level shifting.

Switching speed for industrial fieldbus and sensor interfaces

Typical rise and fall times are 3.5 µs and 5 µs respectively, with turn-on and turn-off times of 6 µs and 5.5 µs. This places the bandwidth around 30-40 kHz, adequate for reading digital sensor outputs, encoder pulses, and discrete I/O at typical PLC scan rates without missing edges. The -55°C to +100°C operating temperature range covers industrial enclosures and outdoor cabinet installations without derating concerns. The 400 mV maximum saturation voltage at the output ensures low power dissipation when driving logic inputs directly.
