5300Vrms isolation in a 4-SMD Gull Wing package
The Vishay SFH615AA-X007 is a single-channel transistor-output optocoupler rated for 5300Vrms isolation, housed in a 4-SMD Gull Wing surface-mount package. It accepts DC input and provides a phototransistor output with a current transfer ratio (CTR) ranging from 50% to 600% at a forward current of 5mA. The output transistor can handle up to 70V and 50mA, with a typical Vce saturation of 400mV. Operating temperature spans -55°C to 100°C, suiting industrial and extended-temperature environments such as motor drives, power supplies, and PLC I/O modules.
The 50% minimum CTR at 5mA forward current ensures the optocoupler can drive a logic input or a low-power load with reasonable margin. The 600% maximum CTR gives headroom for degraded LED output over temperature or lifetime, but also means the designer should account for potential saturation at high CTR in low-load circuits. The 2µs turn-on and 25µs turn-off times are typical for a standard transistor output — adequate for 10-100 kHz switching in isolated feedback or signal transmission, but not for high-speed data.
