5300Vrms isolation in a 4-SMD Gull Wing package
The Vishay SFH615A-3X007T is a single-channel phototransistor optocoupler delivering 5300Vrms of galvanic isolation in a compact 4-SMD Gull Wing package. It is designed for signal isolation in industrial controls, power supplies, and motor-drive feedback paths where the primary-to-secondary barrier must withstand high voltage transients. The DC input drives an infrared LED, and the phototransistor output switches up to 50mA with a maximum Vce saturation of 400mV.
The -3X007T suffix denotes a current transfer ratio (CTR) bin of 100% to 200% at a 10mA forward current. This is a medium-range CTR: high enough to guarantee logic-level output from a standard 5V or 3.3V microcontroller GPIO driving the LED, but not so high that the phototransistor saturates slowly. The 2µs rise and fall times and 3µs turn-on / 2.3µs turn-off times suit low-speed isolation up to about 100 kbps — think relay drivers, PLC digital inputs, or isolated I2C bus buffers. If your design needs faster switching, the 2µs edges will limit the data rate; consider a logic-output optocoupler instead.
The 4-SMD Gull Wing package is a standard Vishay footprint shared across the SFH615A family, so second-sourcing or future density upgrades within the family are straightforward without a board spin.
