Galvanic isolation with a 5300 Vrms barrier
The Vishay SFH6156-2T is a single-channel optocoupler with a phototransistor output, designed to pass DC signals across a reinforced isolation barrier rated at 5300 Vrms. The 4-SMD gull-wing package suits surface-mount assembly in industrial PSUs, motor drives, and PLC I/O modules where galvanic separation between control and power domains is mandatory.
CTR bin and switching speed
The '-2' CTR bin guarantees a current transfer ratio between 63% and 125% at a forward current of 10 mA, which means the output transistor can sink enough collector current to drive a logic input or a small relay coil without an extra gain stage. Typical rise and fall times are 2 µs each, with turn-on at 3 µs and turn-off at 2.3 µs — fast enough for 100 kHz switching in isolated gate drives or status feedback loops.
Output ratings and temperature range
The output transistor is rated for 70 V collector-emitter and 50 mA continuous current, with a maximum saturation voltage of 400 mV at rated drive.
