5300 Vrms isolation and CTR range
The SFH600-3 is a single-channel optocoupler from Vishay built around a phototransistor with a base connection. Its 5300 Vrms isolation rating makes it a candidate for galvanic isolation in industrial controls, motor drives, and power supplies where you need to separate high-voltage and low-voltage domains. The current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified between 160% and 320% at a 10 mA forward current — a wide enough band that you should check the minimum at your actual drive current to guarantee the logic threshold at the output side.
Output stage and switching speed
The output is a phototransistor with the base brought out, which gives you the option to bias the base for faster switching or to use the transistor in a common-base configuration. Typical turn-on time is 3.2 µs and turn-off is 3 µs, with rise and fall times of 2 µs and 2.5 µs respectively. That puts it in the general-purpose speed class — fine for 50/60 Hz line sync, relay drivers, or status feedback, but not for high-speed data links.
The 6-DIP package (0.300-inch body width) is a standard through-hole footprint — easy to hand-assemble or wave-solder, and the 7.62 mm pin pitch matches common proto-board layouts.
